The baby weaning planner is designed to train your babys’ palette to accept and like the widest range of healthy, tasty and nutritious foods. Initially of through cooked (steamed) and pureed foods from the major groups.
Remember your baby has only been aware of the taste and texture of formula or breast milk, accordingly we have to let the baby experience different tastes and at the same time protect the still delicate stomach lining from too much too soon.
For this reason many of the foods we as adults take for granted as part of our diet are specifically excluded, such as honey, dairy foods (butter, whole milk, cheese etc), potatoes, egg white, red meat, wheat and nuts.
The babys’ stomach wall is not fully formed until a year old and as such is permeable, it is thought by some experts that giving your baby foods of the wrong type too soon leads to allergies later in life as the foods are able to permeate the stomach wall during digestion and thus enter the body.
The order of the foods introduced is such that they are able to digest them fully. Once cooked and pureed foods have been introduced we move onto the same foods, such as fruits and vegetables, in the natural form, at that stage we know there is no allergic reaction or dislike of the cooked version and the taste is different in the natural form but the texture is very different.
We have found that some foods are complete hits and some are totally rejected, but very few fall into the latter category.
